New World Encyclopedia, 12 septiembre 2018 (Talcott Parsons (December 13, 1902-May 8, 1979) was an American sociologist who established the sociology department at Harvard University; influential through the 1950s and well into the 1960s; born in Colorado Springs, Colorado; initially wanted to become a biologist or medical doctor; graduated from Amherst College with majors in biology and philosophy; after Amherst entered the London School of Economics; moved to the University of Heidelberg in Germany where he received his Ph.D. in sociology and economics (1927); joined Harvard University as an instructor of economics (1927) and continued to teach there until his retirement (in 1974); died in Munich, Germany in 1979)
